Random Letter Wheel
All 26 letters, A to Z, on equal slices. Spin for a random letter.
This wheel holds the full English alphabet, all 26 letters from A to Z, each on a slice of the same size. Every letter has a 1 in 26 chance (about 3.8%) on every spin.
Games that need a random letter
- **Scattergories-style rounds:** spin a letter, then everyone writes an animal, a city and a food that starts with it.
- **Categories / "Name 5":** spin and race to name five things that start with the letter.
- **Alphabet scavenger hunt:** find an object in the room that starts with the letter.
- **Story starters:** the first word of the next sentence must start with the letter.
Using the letter wheel in class
Teachers use it for phonics warm-ups (say the sound, then a word with it), spelling bees, and picking which letter a student starts their vocabulary list with. Turn on removing the winner if you want every letter to come up once before any repeats.
Want fewer letters?
Some letters are hard for word games. Delete Q, X and Z from the list on the right to keep rounds moving, or keep only the vowels (A, E, I, O, U) for a vowel drill. Your edited wheel can be shared with the "Save & Share link" button.
Is every letter equally likely?
Yes. Each slice is the same size and the result is chosen with your browser's cryptographic random number generator before the wheel starts turning. The wheel does not reflect how common a letter is in English: Z is as likely as E.
